Derived fields

These fields are computed by Isopleth from other public fields, rather than read directly from a single source. Scores are screening heuristics on a fixed scale, not engineering, financial or regulatory determinations. Inputs are named in each field's notes in the response.

btm_gas_candidacy_flag

True when an interstate natural gas pipeline is within 10 km, a first screen for generating power on site with gas. It does not mean gas service is available.

estimated_annual_power_cost_usd_per_mw

Rough yearly electricity bill in USD for 1 MW of load running all year, at the state's average industrial price (price times 8,760 MWh). A planning number, not a quote.

grading_difficulty_class

Rough earthwork difficulty from the ground slope here: flat (under 2°), moderate (2° to 8°) or difficult (over 8°). A screening guide, not an engineering standard.

grid_price_usd_per_mwh

The state's average industrial electricity price converted to USD per MWh (EIA price in USD/kWh times 1,000). An all-in retail price, not a wholesale or tariff quote.

modeled_onsite_gas_generation_cost_usd_per_mwh

Estimated fuel cost in USD per MWh to make power on site with natural gas, from the state's industrial gas price and an assumed simple-cycle heat rate of 9.5 MMBtu/MWh. Fuel only; the heat rate assumption drives the result.

near_epa_repowering_site

True when an EPA RE-Powering screened site (brownfield, landfill or mine) is within 1 km. Reported on its own so it still works if tax_incentive_stack cannot be computed.

nearest_urban_area_rtt_floor_ms

Physical minimum network round-trip time in milliseconds to the nearest Census urban area: twice the straight-line distance at the speed of light in fiber. Real latency is higher. 0 inside an urban area; null beyond 100 km.

residential_context_class_1km

How many homes are nearby, from 2020 Census housing units within 1 km: isolated (0), sparse (1-49), moderate (50-499) or dense (500+). A hint at possible neighbor opposition, not a distance to the nearest home.

tax_incentive_stack

Comma-separated incentive flags that apply here: opportunity_zone and/or brownfield_repowering_screened. Empty when none apply. A pointer for further review, not a determination of eligibility.

transmission_redundancy_flag

True when at least 2 transmission line segments are within about 2 km and at least 3 substations are within 10 km, so more than one grid connection path appears on the map. Not a capacity or reliability finding.
